No-exam life insurance

Eligibility, how quick approval works, and what happens if a full exam is necessary.

Numerous carriers have introduced fast-track underwriting: for applicants in the right age range seeking coverage within their limits, they use your application, what your doctor has prescribed, your driving record and other sources to reach a decision, bypassing a physical exam. Many approvals arrive within hours. Each quote here notes whether the product requires a medical exam, might need one, or skips it entirely.

What it changes

No-exam approval doesn't mean no review. Your responses get verified, and if the policy was based on false information, the carrier can challenge it in the first two years. If something in their records looks questionable, they might request tests anyway; you'll decide whether to move ahead.

Who tends to qualify

Usually younger applicants (roughly under 60) seeking coverage amounts within the carrier's quick-approval threshold, with no significant past medical conditions and no tobacco for a year or longer. Recent lab results from a doctor's visit can sometimes substitute for a new exam.

Should an exam be required, expect a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical examiner, typically held at your Ventura-area home or workplace and at no charge. For healthy applicants, the exam results can sometimes move you into a better rate category, making it a potential advantage rather than a drawback.
